Economic & Regulatory Trends in Society

Opportunities due to Economic & Regulatory Trends:

1. People are seeking new jobs 

2. Supermarkets are thriving with less people eating out.

3. The market for masks and sanitation products is booming.

4. New markets due to social distancing standards.

With the coronavirus taking over everything that is happening today, it is hard to come up with 2 for each when there is really one looming economic and regulatory trend.

1&2) The main economic problem relevant in society today is that people need to get out and work in order to support their families. As the country starts to open up, there are opportunities to find work or go back to the job you had before this mess started. Many Americans are on unemployment and with people getting jobs and returning to their old ones, Americans can get off the country's payroll and start to support themselves again. These opportunities might not seem like opportunities and might seem more like things that are necessary to survive. Getting a job would normally not be looked at as an "opportunity" but in this case it is the only opportunity anyone is looking for right now. This opportunity caught my eye because my dad is a salesman and he has his own business that he cannot run because he can't sell merchandise to stores that are closed. As stores start to reopen, hopefully my dad can get some orders in so those stores can sell to customers and we can get the cycle running smoothly again.

3&4) The new regulatory trend, or law, is that you must wear a mask inside a store, restaurants are only open for takeout, and as the country starts to reopen we question how we will return back to stores and hair salons etc. without threatening our health. This creates an opportunity for sanitation companies and the "mask" industry is booming. My dad happens to be my inspiration for this opportunity as well because during his time off work, him and a few colleagues have gotten together to create a way for people to meet face to face without posing a risk. Hopefully soon everyone will know about it and his invention will go viral!! We'll just have to wait and see!
